How did the virus jump species?

Many scientists around the world are still struggling to answer this question and understand how SARS-Cov-2 passed to people. It is widely accepted that this new virus originated in bats but whether an intermediate host played a role in the jump between species is under investigation.  Computational models, cell studies and animal experiment are used to track the virus origin. Finding the virus  in wild animals would have helped, but now that it has spread among humans it will be more difficult to confirm wild life role as intermediate hosts. Researchers are looking at potential ‘suspects’ in wildlife farms in China as many captive-bred animals live close to livestock and humans there.
