American researchers have gathered information on the endemic and emerging alpha- and beta-coronaviruses in animals to help filing the gaps in knowledge about the new SARS-Cov-2. Data about infections in wildlife, livestock and companion animals were gathered to develop “one health” strategies to be better prepared and control future coronaviruses epidemics. A one health approach is essential as those viruses tend to jump species, and have an important number of mammalian hosts.
