What we can learn from an outbreak in a South Korean call center

Flash

A team from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studied a cluster of cases located in a call center in a commercial-residential mixed-used building. They gathered information on demographic characteristics and diagnostic tests results to perform descriptive analyses of the epidemic. Main results are that SARS-Cov-2 may be very contagious in crowded office settings, which may represent a source for secondary infections and demonstrate the power of screening all potential contact people. This study also provides some insights about the proportion of asymptomatic carriers although early quarantine and isolation measures may influence the estimated proportions. The findings help define preventive strategies to minimise the transmission risk in an office environment.
