A highly relevant "one health" project : EPICOREM

Flash News COVID19

The EPICOREM project funded by the ANR has been studying the circulation and evolution of coronavirus in different ecosystems from wildlife to humans since 2014. The researchers collected more than 4,000 samples from Europe, Spain and North Africa and detected and sequenced new coronaviruses. They were also interested in the phylogenetic links between these new viruses and other identified coronaviruses, highlighting the strong capacity of these viruses to cross species barriers. Finally, the project studied the genetic variations of a Betacoronavirus in bats - virus from the SARS-CoV (genus Sarbecovirus) sister group - in order to better understand its evolutionary dynamics.
