Dogs trained to detect COVID-19

Flash

In England dogs are trained to detect the SARS-Cov-2 virus by sniffing face masks. If training is successful, these dogs will be able to screen hundreds of people each day to find out who should be tested and isolated. This diagnostic tool would speed up the country's response to the pandemic by enabling rapid and non-invasive detection of the population. The dogs are trained at Claire Guest's Center, she has already trained dogs for the detection of cancer or Parkinson's disease and the research is carried out in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Durham University.
