Poste et missions

The R&D Scientist position in Molecular Biology involves developing, evaluating and implementing protocols for bacterial detection and quantification, as well as novel nucleic acid extraction and quantification methods in the field of oncology and infectious diseases. It requires a dynamic and resourceful individual with a set of interests and skills that spans multiple disciplines, and with specific laboratory training, know-how and practical experience.

Profil

The successful candidate should be a self-starter, with strong technical knowledge base in Molecular Biology and prior experience in nucleic acid extraction, amplification and quantification from complex samples. The job will require excellent scientific background, autonomy, versatility, as well as team spirit and the ability to coordinate different projects.

  • Highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology or Microbiology,
  • High degree of autonomy and proactive attitude
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Extensive laboratory experience, including all basic nucleic acid extraction, amplification and quantification techniques, with intimate theoretical knowledge and practical experience in optimizing reaction conditions and iterative troubleshooting
  • Ability to communicate results and present technical information orally and in writing
  • Ability to integrate in a team and collaborate with local as well as remote team members
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • Used to build, animate and manage scientific collaboration within academic or private environments.
  • Excellent English language level as well as French language level.  

 

Objectifs
Some of the job responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
Develop, implement and evaluate rapid protocols for nucleic acid detection
Implement established RNA and DNA extraction and quantification protocols using information published in scientific literature and standard laboratory equipment
Design and optimize new protocols based on (RT-)qPCR and (RT-)LAMP techniques
Design and implement immunoassays to detect relevant targets in complex environments
Engineer test plans, validation and calibrations procedures for newly developed protocols against established methods
Assist with identification and purchasing of critical laboratory equipment
Perform bibliographic research and state-of-the-art discovery
Prepare scientific communications and reports, documentation.
Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environment rules and regulations
Define project outlines, experimental plans, perform experimentations and results analysis of a broad variety of assays.
Develop and optimize methods based on nucleic acids manipulations.
Ensure efficient and reproducible day to day operations, provide high quality results, ensure high equipment uptime, manage resources (equipment, reagents, consumables),
Perform in-depth analysis of experimental data,
Engage in good laboratory/documentation practices, write Standard Operation Protocols (SOPs) and enforce their correct use and contribute to the performance demonstration requirement according to medical device regulation.
Actively contribute towards critical company milestones, with a willingness to work outside immediate area of expertise where required.
Contribute to the development and writing of patents protecting the inventions made on behalf of the company
