Monoclonal antibodies to prevent and treat COVID19.

6 August 2020

While the race for a vaccine is in full swing, several compagnies are investing in antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies could be available sooner than vaccines and they could hopefully be more effective than current treatments and could protect care workers from becoming infected while reducing the severity of the disease in hospitalised patients. Currently, the main criticism is linked to the cost of producing such medicine and thus the price paid by the patients to access it. Solutions to lessen the cost are under study such as the development of monoclonal antibodies that can be made by the body itself.
