The New York Times recently published an article on the observed mutations on the SARS-Cov-2 genome. Some mutations have an impact on protein’s shape and sometimes on the spike protein. This later being crucial to cell attachment, some changes in shape may favour virus transmission. Tracking mutations is important to follow and limit the course of the disease. For now, the variants are expected to remain sensible to the vaccines in trials and those already approved.
