There is some action at the UMR INSERM U 1100 of Tours on research against COVID-19!

The UMR INSERM U 1100 is the Center for the Study of Respiratory Pathologies based at the University of Tours. This multidisciplinary research center is focusing in understanding the mechanisms of pulmonary infection and inflammation as well as the validation of aerosol delivery of therapeutic agents. This team, which is very active during the current pandemic, has just published 3 studies and a review that you can find following the links below:

  • "Effect of Hydrocortisone on 21-Day Mortality or Respiratory Support Among Critically Ill Patients With COVID-19" (par Dequin et al.); publication in JAMA (IF: 45.5). 
  • “Phenotypical and functional alteration of unconventional T cells in severe COVID-19 patients” (par Jouan et al.); publication in "Journal of experimental medicine" (IF: 11.7).
  • "Controlled heat and humidity-based treatment for the re-use of personal protective equipment: a pragmatic proof-of-concept to address the mass shortage of surgical masks and N95/FFP2 respirators and to prevent the SARS-CoV2 transmission" (par Desoubeaux et al.); publication in "Frontiers in medicine" (IF: 3.9).
  • Review entitled "Pulmonary immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 infection: harmful or not?" (par Guillon et al.) ; publication in the Journal "Intensive care medicine" (IF: 17.7)
