A nasal spray vaccine against COVID-19?

A nasal spray vaccine against COVID-19?

15 February 2021

The BioMap team of the UMR "Infectiology and Public Health" at INRAE in Tours is currently examining the question. They have indeed developed a vaccine candidate based on proteins and administered in the form of a nasal spray. Tests will begin in the coming weeks, first on a mouse model, then on other animal models if the first results are encouraging. This route of administration is interesting because it is non-invasive, very suitable for mass vaccination, particularly for children and elderly people. Its low cost and its conservation are also important advantages, making it a promising candidate. FéRI will closely follow this research in the coming months.
